Excess ingredients, such as nitrogen and phosphorus, are not fully absorbed by plants and remain dissolved in water. Various algae use them to grow in the aquarium. To prevent this, excess water should be removed from the aquarium. The easiest way is water changes. Adding needed ingredients after removing excess ones is the key to properly fertilizing a planted aquarium.
