If aquatic plants grow densely and actively photosynthesize, water conditions improve due to the plants’ ability to purify the water. However, some plants grow slowly while absorbing nutrients slowly. If the ability to purify water is desired in an aquarium, stem plants should be used in the arrangement. They quickly adapt to new conditions, increasing their size in a short period of time, and thus absorbing excess compounds in the initial period of operation of the aquarium. Such plants are called initial plants. Although stemworts are sometimes difficult to keep in good condition for long periods of time, they are excellent plants to start maturing your aquarium. As long as it does not interfere with the arrangement, you can also use floating plants, which absorb excess nutrients just as quickly.
